CJ and another young chimpanzee were not rescued, but purchased. And real shelters don't dress nonhuman primates in children's clothes and rent them out for photos.

(short for Calamity Jane) "grooms" a two-week-old leopard cub during a fundraiser for Animal Antics, a shelter for rescued exotic animals, outside the Exotic Pets store at 2105 N. Decatur Blvd. The rummage sale and photo shoot with exotic animals raised money to improve the living conditions for rescued exotic animals and to help pay for their medical treatment, said Animal Antics owner Nikki Riddell.
